How to build a flag football playbook

Choose plays for your format, rehearse the assignments, then print the same ordered calls for your coaches and players. The free builder includes 5v5, 6v6 and 7v7 diagrams, route walkthroughs and space for your own coaching notes.

  1. Pick a small opening set. Filter by player count and age guidance. Start with a handoff and a short pass your team can complete in practice. Add an answer for a different coverage once the first calls are familiar. Check your league's rush, transfer and no-run-zone rules.
  2. Teach one assignment at a time. Tap a player to isolate the route, run the walkthrough or scrub to a stopping point. Open the coaching notes for the quarterback's reads and common mistakes. Animation shows the drawn paths; it does not predict defenders or game timing.
  3. Make the calls your team's. Add plays to My playbook, drag them into order and give each call a memorable name. In Team room, set the team name and jersey labels. Labels describe positions; they do not automatically build a different card for each roster member.
  4. Print and test one copy. Choose wristbands, coach book or call sheet. Use the browser's Save as PDF option for a digital copy. Wristbands use the first eight calls; the other layouts include every selected play. Print at 100% and check the window before cutting a full set.

Playbook builder questions

Which format should I choose: 5v5, 6v6 or 7v7?

Match the number of players your league allows on the field. The library includes 26 authored 5v5/7v7 plays and five 6v6 concepts. Age filters are a starting point; choose route depth and exchanges based on what your players can demonstrate. Compare the 5v5 play library, 6v6 coaching guide and 7v7 playbook guide.

Can I draw a custom flag football play?

Yes. Open the free play designer, choose the player count and draw the routes. Save the design in this browser, then find it under My designs in the builder. Review spacing, ball transfers and your league's rules before teaching it.

Does my playbook follow me onto other pages or devices?

My playbook follows you around this site in the same browser. It stores selected calls, team details, jersey labels and custom designs on this device. Use Download backup and Restore backup to move that data to another browser or device. There is no account or automatic cloud sync. If storage is blocked, keep a downloaded backup before closing the page.

How do I print wristband cards, a coach book or a call sheet?

Open Print shop to preview all three layouts, or use the print buttons in My playbook from any page. Wristbands show the first eight calls in order. Coach book includes diagrams, reads and notes; call sheet is a compact reference. For a ready-made download, use the free PDF playbooks or printable wristband template.

Will the playbook work without a connection at the field?

Open the builder and Game Day tool while connected and keep the page open. Saved selections do not guarantee an offline reload of scripts or diagrams. Bring your PDF or a printed call sheet as a fallback.

Keep a coach copy and a player copy of the same set

Choose the plays and order once, then print both formats from that selection. Check a player's jersey number against the correct diagram label before printing for the whole roster. Run one practice huddle using the cards so you can see whether the diagrams and numbers are readable at the size you chose.

Save a copy before changing browsers or devices

Download a playbook backup to keep selected calls, notes, jersey labels and custom designs, then use Restore backup in the next browser. A PDF is a readable paper copy, while the backup can be edited in the builder. Your selection is stored on this device without an account. Measure the wristband window before cutting a full batch.
