- Cones
- Footballs
- Water
- Wristband cards
- First aid kit
After practice: worked / fix next time
How to fill in the template
- Write one goal. One sentence about what the kids should be able to do by the end, like "take good angles to pull flags." Everything else on the page should serve it.
- Pick three drills. One for defense or flag pulling, one for carrying or catching the ball, and one for routes, snaps or passing. The drills page sorts them by age.
- Pick two or three plays. Install only what you can walk, jog and run at full speed in about 12 minutes. The play library marks each play with the ages it fits.
- Fill in start times. Write the clock time next to each block so you know at a glance if you are running late.
- Assign a coach. Put a parent helper's name next to each drill, and hand them the sheet before practice.
- After practice, write two notes. One thing that worked and one thing to fix. Next week's plan starts there.
Why the blocks are in this order
- Warm-up first, with movement. Kids arrive with energy. Use it before asking them to stand in a line.
- Drills before the install. The skills from the drills (handoffs, routes, flag pulls) are the pieces the plays are made of.
- Water in the middle. Use the break to set up the next drill, so it costs no practice time.
- Scrimmage near the end. Kids came to play football. Running the plays you just installed is where they stick.
- The 45-minute column cuts the third drill and trims the rest, because the scrimmage already covers most of that skill.
